It is the symbolism of acid that is important in a spiritual interpretation. As a corrosive substance which may or may not have a positive effect, there is an ambivalence in any interpretation. An act of corruption and potential destructiveness eats away at our integrity, yet may leave us feeling cleansed.

Psychologically there is an awareness that self-confidence and our usual sense of well-being is being eroded by outside influences.

A corrosive influence in our lives may be bad but the eventual outcome can be cleansing or healing. There could be the feeling that we are being ‘eaten away’by some action or  concept. We should become aware of something – perhaps words or actions – that must be used with caution, depending how and on whom they are being used.
