There are many things that draw people into the world of dreams and their meaning. Last night I had a dream that tends to draw most to my site for different answers. I had a dream about my grandfather who passed away a few years ago. It wasn’t a very vivid dream, he was standing there joking with me and dropping a few F-Bombs. I didn’t read too much into it as I had just been in my family’s house that he owned a few weeks ago. So separating actual dreams that mean something from those that are just our frame of reference from something that happened can be tougher that most people think. I was never really all that close as an adult with my grandfather, although I cried really hard at his funeral because I knew I had missed an opportunity that won’t ever come to be until I depart this world. He was a good man and I remember his parting words to me: Aren’t you going to say bye? It was an odd comment. I barely saw my grandfather and that was his last words to me, he died soon after.
I rarely share personal dreams let along very personal dreams in such a public space…but I’m sad and this dream is effecting me and I can’t figure out why. I’m not reading too much into it which I try and pride myself on because I don’t believe it to be a communicative dream from him, however sometimes I wish that I would let my emotions run a little wild. Maybe I will a little….
Welcome to Dreams Meaning, where we offer a no nonsense approach to dream interpretation. First off, if you have any questions on any specific dreams please don’t hesitate to contact us here.
Have you ever awoke from a wacky dream and sat there in bed scratching your head with a WTF moment? Or maybe you had a sexual dream about someone you work with who you hate and are not even attracted to! Or my favorite, you are in your underwear getting scratched by a purple overweight asian person who looks like Buddha.
There are many things that can cause you to have bad, good, frightening and reoccurring dreams and nightmares. It was Sigmund Freud who first said that “there are no mistakes” when it comes to people’s actions. I believe the same thing holds true to dreams. Let’s cover a few basics of dreams and dream interpretations.
1. Sometimes It’s Just A Dream! – Not every single dream has this ground breaking meaning that will forever alter and change your life. Sometimes you dreamed about a bagel with cream cheese…well, because you were craving a bit of carbs.
2. There Is No Perfect Way to Interpret a Dream – Ask one person and get one answer, ask another person and get another answer. Not to be cliche’ but it’s all open to interpretation.
3. Symbolism Is The Key – What is probably the best predictor of the origin of your dream is through the symbols you are seeing in your dreams. I will get into this in more depth in future posts, but for now just understand that the key is to figure out if the brown house or black cat is a symbol in your dream or just a part of the scenery.
The first thing you should understand is that there are around 10-15 different types of dream categories that most interpreters will use, again I will get into this in further depth in future posts.
For now, here are a few of them:
1. Lucid Dreams – Almost everyone at one point of another in their life has had this type of dream. In a lucid dream you are aware that you are dreaming. Many people enjoy the freedom of this as they feel like they are in never never land and can do anything. Some people have developed the skill of actually being able to control any and all things that happen in these dreams.
2. Psychic Dreams AKA Prophetic Dreams – Have you ever had a dream and something in that dream came true? Most of us have. I myself have experienced this far too many times to count. However I’ve seen people go out of their minds because 1 or 2 dreams come true and then they have a horrible dream and live in fear for quite a long time.
3. Reoccurring Dreams – Depending on exactly what the dream is about, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Being persued by a super model is something most people would love to have a dream about over and over again. However being chased by Michael Myers might cause you to not want to lay your head down on that pillow at night.
That’s all for now folks – In upcoming posts we will talk about symbols and different interpretations. To learn a little bit more about me and my background go to about sean and try not to get bored.
